Antcor Announces Multi Mode Extension of Proteus Wi-Fi

Proteus is the only Wi-Fi IP that truly leverages the capabilities of programmable DSPs.

Antcor, S.A. an industry pioneer of 802.11 Intellectual Property, today introduces the Multi Mode Extension (MME) of Proteus.

Proteus is the only Wi-Fi IP available in the global market that supports up to 4x4 MIMO and speeds up to 1.7 Gbps, enabling the next generation Wi-Fi access points, home gateways and Small cells. Implemented primarily in DSP-software and with minimal hardware acceleration, the Proteus offers a unique combination of performance, flexibility, and scalability.

Traditionally Wi-Fi semiconductor solutions are implemented as hardwired and inflexible designs. This means that the "use cases" and applications to be served are fixed and predefined from the early stages of the system design.

MME technology enables the dynamic software configuration of Proteus core to operate either as a single 4x4 802.11ac or as multiple simultaneous wireless Access Points of 3x3, 2x2 and 1x1, accelerating time to market and expanding addressable markets with a single System On Chip (SoC) design.
