Antix Adds Wi-Fi Direct Support to Antix Game Player
Games can be shared in seconds, enhancing social gaming experience
READING, England, November 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
New technologies combine to make social gaming off-network increasingly convenient and compelling for consumers.
Antix Labs has announced that its advanced gaming service now supports Wi-Fi Direct. Games that would have taken a few minutes to send from one device to another using Bluetooth can be shared in a matter of seconds with Wi-Fi Direct. Users can now distribute, challenge and then play in multi-player mode without any need to have immediate access to a service provider's network or a router with data transmission times cut by 95% compared to traditional Bluetooth technologies.

There is clear empirical evidence that consumers prefer to play socially in immediate proximity and across different devices. Combined with network operators' concerns of insufficient bandwidth capacity and coverage, Antix provides a way for users to distribute games off-network as well as over the cloud, beaming, challenging and then playing with their friends peer-to-peer.
Evan Spytma, Regional Director of Australia and SE Asia for PopCap said, "We've seen how consumers can send Plants vs. Zombies from one device to another in a matter of just a few seconds using the Antix Game Player with Wi-Fi Direct. Within the growth and emerging markets of South East Asia, where networks are overloaded and slow, this viral distribution capability has enormous benefits to game developers and publishers as well as to the consumer."
Francis Charig, Antix's founder, said, "Products such as Marmalade are developer focused and designed to help reduce engineering time and cost. The Antix Game Player does do that of course and provides comprehensive support for the cloud. But what makes Antix fundamentally different from any other business today is that we have built a distribution platform for high quality games incorporating a wealth of IP-protected technologies that allow consumers to share and play off-network across different devices. We meet both current and future demands of networks as well as utilize the capabilities in-the-home and on-the-move of consumers' TVs, STBs, phones, tablets and PCs."
