ApolloMed Selected by L.A. Care Health Plan to Provide Hospitalist Services at Approximately 22 Hospitals in Los Angeles County

GLENDALE, Calif., Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Apollo Medical Holdings, Inc. ("ApolloMed") (OTCQB-AMEH), a leading provider of hospitalist, critical care and integrated medical management services in Southern and Central California, today announced that ApolloMed Hospitalists, one of its affiliated medical groups, signed a service agreement with L.A. Care Health Plan to provide hospital management services at those specific hospitals in Los Angeles County where hospitalist services are currently unavailable. The agreement will serve members enrolled in L.A. Care's direct lines of business and provide hospital management services at approximately 22 hospitals in Los Angeles.

L.A. Care, the largest Medi-Cal managed care plan in California and the largest public health plan in the nation, currently provides health insurance to more than one million residents in Los Angeles County.  It offers Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and a Medicare Special Needs Plan to its members.  Since 2001, it has also provided nearly $132 million to strengthen the health care safety net that serves those who are not eligible for any of the L.A. Care programs.

Under the agreement with L.A. Care, ApolloMed will provide hospitalist services including management of inpatient admissions, co-management of surgical admissions,  management of continued medical stays using evidence-based practices, provision of  daily inpatient hospital rounds in collaboration with L.A. Care Health Plan staff, and support of transitional care and discharge planning.
