SAO PAULO, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AppCircus, site with a focus on innovate apps, in partnership with Zeewe, the new HTML5 based app store, launched AppCircus Spotlight on HTML5, the first HTML5 Mobile Web App competition. All developers can send submit apps on App Circus web site: http://appcircus.com/event/appcircus-spotlight-on-html5. An international jury of experts from the mobile ecosystem will review all the submitted apps and select the winner.
Thanks to the support from Zeewe, the artist of the winning app will receive a cash prize up to USD 1,000 and be able to pitch at the AppCircus in Palo Alto on April 6. If the artist publishes his HTML5 app on Zeewe, the cash prize will double to USD 2,000*.
HTML5 is the buzz for mobile apps in 2011. Everyone is talking about this, including Facebook, Google, Apple, and all the developers ecosystem.
The reason behind these expectations is that HTML5 enables apps to be distributed to every smartphone that has a HTML5 Webkit browser, which includes iOS and Android devices and soon those running WebOs, Opera, WP7, among others. Some estimates say it is possible to distribute HTML5 mobile web apps to around 400 MM mobile devices today and this number is growing fast.
And distribution is not the only benefit, since developing in HTML5 is easier and faster. The ecosystem of HTML5 Apps is just starting and app visibility and distribution channels are still quite limited, so AppCircus and Zeewe makes its contribution with this first HTML5 Mobile Web App Competition.
*Cash prize: The winner of the competition will receive USD 2,000 if the app is made available through Zeewe by the time of the Winner selection. If the winning app is not available on Zeewe, the cash prize will be USD 1,000.
