AppHere Presents Venue-Based Instant Social Technology at TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013
Attendees will be able to use the app to connect with others during the event.
NEW YORK, April 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AppHere, the venue-based instant social network, is going to be showcased today (4/30) at TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013, the event that combines top thought-leader discussions with new products and company launches. Throughout the application, already available for downloads at the Apple App Store, people can join an instant network based on where they are, and interact with others who are at the same place. The service, a multinational effort between United States and Brazil, is intended to reach 1 million people worldwide by the end of this year.
"I have always been so frustrated with the millions of opportunities we have missed to connect with interesting people when we're out. Bars, restaurants, airports, gyms, conferences - all places that we know cool people were, but there was never an ice breaker", said Sergio Braga, AppHere's founder and CEO. "AppHere comes to help people to meet other interesting people, enhancing the social experiences".
"We're proud of what we've built so far and the disrupt conference provides us with the ideal audience to showcase our product", added Marcelo Alcantara, co-Founder and CTO at AppHere. "The conference attendees will be able to use the app to connect with others during the event".
AppHere uses location-based technology to create a social network where only people that are inside a specific venue can see what's happening inside it and see who else is there. The application also relies on Facebook authentication in order to validate the identity of people using our application. The founders have also invested a lot of time and effort in creating a compelling user experience where the users can easily interact with others while inside the network.
Sergio is a seasoned entrepreneur with global experience. Prior to creating AppHere, he was in the pharmaceutical industry where he founded a medical devices company and grew it to a US$ 50M business. Marcelo is a serial entrepreneur, having co-founded three technology companies. He is a pioneer in the mobile applications space and served as vice-president of Solutions at Spring Wireless, where he led the company's product portfolio and international expansion.
TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013 is TechCrunch's fourth annual conference in New York City. The format combines top thought-leader discussions with new product and company launches. Morning executive discussions debate technology-driven disruptions in many industries, while the afternoons are reserved for the Startup Battlefield, where 30 new companies will launch for the first time on stage, selected to present from more than 1000 applications received from around the world. The winning company will receive a $50,000 grand prize and the Disrupt Cup at the conclusion of the conference. The conference is April 27 - May 1, 2013 at the Manhattan Center, 311 West 34th Street (at 8th Ave.) Manhattan, NY.
