Apples to Oranges Expands With High-Profile Editorial Team
Len Dugow Secures Plum Talent
MIAMI, Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Len Dugow, owner and publisher of Apples to Oranges (A2O) magazine, announced today A2O's distinguished new editorial team of top-level magazine executives.
Eric Newill has been named editor, Jenny Starr Perez as fashion director and Adriana Garcia as art director. The newly appointed team will lead A2O's expanded readership and circulation planned for the November/December 2011 issue.
Newill, Perez and Garcia are fresh from Plum Miami, the defunct luxury lifestyle title acclaimed for sharp, sophisticated design and daring content.
A2O's editorial point of view aims to capture the incredible cross-connection between New York City and Miami. Interviews with leading power brokers will share a slice of South Florida life, while lavish spreads on art and architecture will co-mingle with sultry fashion shoots, trend reports and the latest hotspots.
"Eric's insider grasp of Miami's players, trends and glamour make him the ideal editor for A2O's remarkable November/December issue," says Dugow. "Eric has all the resources to create the best editorial team in Miami, and his initial selection of Jenny and Adriana are in perfect concert with the kind of magazine I envision A2O to become."
Newill's background includes 15 years as managing editor of iconic Ocean Drive. Most recently, he helped launch and oversee editorial direction for Plum Miami. He's also worked with Palm Beach Illustrated and written for such publications as Neiman Marcus' The Book, Spanish Vogue, Interview and The Village Voice.
Jenny Starr Perez, former fashion editor at Plum Miami, holds a long-standing career as a fashion editor and stylist, including work at Niche Media (Ocean Drive, Ocean Drive Espanol). Perez has produced and styled high-profile events, such as celebrity lounges at the Primetime Emmy® Awards, American Music Awards, as well as for internationally acclaimed photographer David LaChapelle.
Adriana Garcia, most recently art director at Plum Miami, hails from HCP/Aboard Publishing (Miami Herald Media), serving as Contributing Art Director for such projects as "The Exile Experience: Journey to Freedom" by Emilio Estefan. Prior, Garcia served as Associate Art Director for SoBeFiT magazine, and held production roles at Hip Hop Weekly and Niche Media, where she oversaw production for 14 luxury titles, including Ocean Drive, Ocean Drive Espanol and Vegas. She has earned four ADDY® awards.
Dugow predicts the new team will deliver the perfect balance of high-end sophistication and content, with over 188,000 copy circulation via The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post.
"High-end advertisers continue to struggle to select a magazine that not only looks great, but also delivers a readership that can actually afford their products," he says. "Equally important, our page rate offers unprecedented affordability. I have been buying media on a global scale for 25 years and have never seen a media buy as compelling."
Newill agrees. "Apples to Oranges is an inventive new project with an exciting direction that will truly reflect the bold style and pace of the country's most vibrant cities."
Len Dugow also serves as President & Chief Creative Officer of LGD Communications, a full service marketing communications agency with offices in Miami and Manhattan.
