Appliance Recycling Centers of America (ARCA) Contract With Xcel Energy Extended Through 2010
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARCI) today announced that its contract with Xcel Energy to provide refrigerator recycling services for the utility's residential electric customers in Colorado and New Mexico has been extended through December 31, 2010. In addition, Xcel Energy's residential electric customers in Minnesota will also be able to participate in the program in 2010.
Through this energy efficiency program, an Xcel Energy customer in Colorado, New Mexico or Minnesota who turns in an old, operating refrigerator will be eligible to receive a $35.00 incentive check. The incentive, which will be paid by Xcel Energy, is designed to offset the costs normally incurred when disposing of an old refrigerator, often in favor of a new and more energy efficient model.
Edward R. (Jack) Cameron, ARCA's President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "We have enjoyed providing turnkey appliance recycling services for Xcel Energy and are extremely pleased that the program was extended into 2010. Xcel Energy's Minnesota recycling program will be ARCA's sixth utility-sponsored appliance recycling program in our home state of Minnesota. Together with Xcel Energy, we will help reduce residential electricity demand, lower customers' energy bills and provide public environmental benefits in Colorado, New Mexico and Minnesota."
