On August 19, 2013, Saks Inc. (Saks) reported its Q2 FY 2014 (period ended August 3, 2013) financial results with net sales of $707.8 million, up 0.5% YoY. Net loss was $19.6 million or $0.13 per diluted share, in Q2 FY 2014, compared to net loss of $12.3 million or $0.08 per diluted share in Q2 FY 2013. Stephen I. Sadove, Chairman and CEO of Saks, said, "While the second quarter was our fourteenth consecutive quarter of posting a comparable store sales increase, our sales growth was modestly below our expectations. In another announcement dated July 29, 2013, Saks also informed about its agreement with Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) to merge whereby HBC will acquire Saks for $16.00 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at c.$2.9 billion, including debt.
