PHOENIX, Oct. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In states that participated in ACA exchanges, hospitals could be hit hard thanks to major cuts on the DSH, and R-C Healthcare Management is working to see hospitals receive all they can thanks to their S-10 review services.
A Fast Approaching Deadline
Just a few years ago, the S-10 was required, but it didn't seriously impact the cost report. However, thanks to the cuts in DSH, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have decided that the S-10 will be one of the driving factors in determining individual hospital payments. For many healthcare organizations, this switch will mean changes need to be made to the S-10 to ensure profitability.
"CMS has previously allowed for S-10 revisions. The 2014 and 2015 forms must be revised by October 31, 2017. Given the increased weight of the form, we can only assume a similar opportunity will appear for the 2016 form as well. Because the S-10 will be so essential, understanding how to make it work for any hospital is an absolute must," said Dave Hanak, Director, Sales & Marketing.
R-C Healthcare Management offers services to help improve DSH payments. With proper analysis and preparation, hospitals will be able to improve their data reporting and offer a more exact measure of their treatment costs.
Reductions of One Billion Dollars
According to CMS, these changes mean reductions in payments of one billion dollars each fiscal year, ending with an $8 billion reduction by fiscal year 2024. For hospitals, those reductions are going to have a serious impact, making accuracy on the S-10 ever more important going forward.
With R-C Healthcare Management's consulting services, though, it is possible to lessen the impact of this proposed rule, creating a much smaller dent in ever decreasing budgets.
