WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Aquarius Cannabis, a U.S.-based branding company in the medical and recreational marijuana industries, today announced its official launch. The Company's goal is to create the first truly national, consumer facing marijuana brand. Akin to tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical products, Aquarius Cannabis will foster consumer trust and set consistency standards in an industry that has been, to date, mostly unregulated and inconsistent. The Company will provide production and compliance standards to independent marijuana growers as well as market their brands to consumers.
According to recent reports, industry experts believe the national legal marijuana market to be currently worth $1.53 billion annually. It is estimated that over the next five years, this number will jump to $10.2 billion, rivaling the wine industry.
"The marijuana industry is currently in a nascent but rapidly growing state, and just like the legalization of alcohol after prohibition, it's the Wild West and consumers don't know exactly what they're getting when they purchase a product," said Davis Lawyer, CEO of Aquarius Cannabis. "There is a general misconception that products with the same strain names (chocolate kush, purple haze, etc.) are consistent across growers, dispensaries, retailers and markets, however, this isn't the case. The reality is that right now, no two products have the same smell, taste, and look or create the same consumer experience. Even genetic clones are not 100 percent consistent unless they are grown under the exact same conditions, processed in the same fashion and even packaged consistently."
Lawyer continued, "Aquarius Cannabis has designed a branding process empowering consumers to know exactly what they are getting every single time. By looking for the Aquarius Cannabis logo on the label, consumers will be assured of a consistent product, producers will have a trusted growing and management mechanism, and regulators will have a transparent picture into the contents of the products being sold."
Aquarius Cannabis will launch with two programs: a flagship production partnership model and a micro-branding program for existing producers. In the former program, Aquarius Cannabis will coordinate contracts and capital between all players in a supply chain to ensure local regulatory compliance and financial integrity and then market the products to the end consumer. The micro-brand program, which will launch in California and Oregon, will allow the Company to work with individual master growers to help them create a unique brand and co-own the intellectual property for each product that is sold. Aquarius Cannabis itself will not produce or sell marijuana under either program.
Aquarius Cannabis is currently negotiating flagship production partnerships in California, Washington, Colorado, Oregon and Illinois. This month, the Company expects to complete its first contract for a flagship production partnership with a state-licensed marijuana producer in Washington. The production facility for this partnership is expected to become active in Q1 2015.
The Company has raised over $800,000 in 2014. Aquarius Cannabis expects to file its Form S-1 Registration Statement next month, as it is planning to go public.
