PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Future hospital leaders have a limited number of choices to participate in post graduate fellowships. Recognizing this gap, the Healthcare Planning and Marketing Society of New Jersey presented ARAMARK with its 2011 Special Achievement Award for the administrative fellowship program the company offers to promote professional development and diversity within hospital administration roles.

"We are impressed with ARAMARK's commitment to developing the next generation of hospital leaders," said Norman Tessell, President of the Healthcare Planning and Marketing Society of New Jersey. "There are dwindling opportunities for graduate level administrative fellowships across the country and this program will continue to open doors for many diverse candidates who might not have similar opportunities."
Created by ARAMARK in 2008 in conjunction with the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, the International Healthcare Administrative Fellowship for Clinical Support Services program is a year-long, post-graduate, administrative fellowship that focuses on the vital connection between the delivery of care and the environment where it is delivered. In collaboration with ARAMARK partner hospitals, the fellowship offers a developmental opportunity in hospital administration, experiential learning with ARAMARK Healthcare's perspective on clinical support services and translational research with leading academics.
"We are very pleased to receive this recognition for our administrative fellowship program," said John Babiarz, President and COO of ARAMARK Healthcare. "With many hospitals cutting back on fellowships, our aim is to provide opportunities to develop future hospital leaders and to create value for our hospital partners by making top notch talent accessible."
The 2011-2012 class of fellows was selected from a pool of more than 140 applicants from around the world based on academic excellence, leadership qualities and commitment to community service. Fellows gain hands-on experience as healthcare administrators, mentored by executives at their host hospitals. The program also involves educational opportunities geared to diversity management, including access to the resources of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, an American Hospital Association affiliate.
