Argosy University, Dallas Announces New Nursing Program

DALLAS, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to recent projections of a national nursing shortage, Argosy University, Dallas is pleased to announce a new nursing program that will address this growing demand with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program.

Designed for licensed registered nurses (RNs) who have earned either a diploma or an associate's degree in nursing, the university's new bachelor's degree program will build upon pre-licensure nursing coursework to help prepare students for professional advancement while meeting the goals articulated by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Each course is delivered in a blended format, a combination of online and on-campus experiences.

"With a growing market demand for bachelor's degrees for registered nurses, it is critical to provide the essential collaboration and communication skills necessary to improve the delivery of healthcare," says Dr. Kristin Benson, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Argosy University. According to AMN Healthcare's 2013 Clinical Workforce Survey, the vacancy rate for nurses has increased to 17 percent, which is considerably higher than the survey conducted in 2009.

By providing new programs that specifically focus on practical core and elective courses geared towards building the necessary skills nurses require, graduates will be better prepared to advance their careers in nursing and meet the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals.
