Arise Donates a Record-Breaking Amount of Back-To-School Supplies to Children in South Florida

MIRAMAR, Fla., Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Arise Virtual Solutions Inc., the award-winning leader in on-demand customer management technology and business process outsourcing (BPO), recently donated more than $12,000 in back-to-school supplies for underserved children in the South Florida area.

The number of backpacks filled during the fourth annual Fill-A-Backpack Drive, organized by the Arise Community Action Team, almost tripled from those in 2017. This year's efforts produced 850 backpacks - a 175% increase - filled with school supplies, along with additional loose supplies that were donated directly to the schools.

Arise worked with several local charitable organizations and schools to distribute the supplies including Harvest Drive Florida, Women in Distress Broward County and Liberty City Elementary School. Generous contributions were also made to Kids in Need Foundation, Forest Hills Elementary and local churches.

"Over 200 employees participated in the Fill-A-Backpack Drive," said Scott Etheridge, Chief Executive Officer. "The backpacks and supplies our employees donated enabled hundreds of South Florida students to be prepared to start the new school year. The Community Action Team pulls Arise employees together to raise thousands of dollars for local, national, and international organizations serving a variety of critical needs in health and family wellness, disaster relief, and suicide prevention, among many others. The majority of Arise's employee base reside in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and the activities of this team nurture their connection to the area in which they live and work.

The National Retail Federation estimates that back-to-school supplies can cost a family up to $684 which means that many low-income families cannot afford to purchase the supplies their children need to be properly prepared to start the school year. This lack of preparation only serves to perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
