Arkados Files Provisional Patent Application for Internet of Things Provisioning, Wellness Monitoring
Links devices for machine to machine communications in home and building automation and energy management
NEWARK, N.J., Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Arkados Group, Inc. (OTC: AKDS) ("Arkados"), a developer of software solutions for the home automation and energy management industries, today announced the filing of a provisional patent application for the initial provisioning and continuous wellness monitoring of devices on a network. The software service built on this proprietary technology, code named LinqUSP, is a service platform that allows users to conduct initial provisioning of a device immediately out of the box to quickly get it up and running. It then monitors the health of the device to ensure continuous operation, with notifications made via cloud services.
The initial provisioning feature of LinqUSP, done simply by scanning a Quick Response(QR) code on the device with a smart phone application, is specifically designed to facilitate registration of a device with its manufacturer, as well as easy, out-of-the-box implementation. Additionally, once the electronic device is provisioned onto the network, it will have the ability to send wellness and activity notifications via a cloud service. Device users will be able to know whether the device is operating properly, and built-in sensors will send warnings to either the user or designated parties. For example, a homeowner's LinqUSP-enabled video surveillance camera could notify the homeowner via text or email that the device is malfunctioning or not working at all.
"We are excited about the filing of this patent as it marks a milestone in our development to be a leader in the burgeoning industry becoming known as the Internet of Things," stated Terrence DeFranco, Chief Executive Officer. "The services incorporated in the LinqUSP allow every day consumers to get their new products working right out of the box and ensure continuous operation for the life of the device. We believe this technology creates great value for consumers as well as manufacturers, distributors and retailers of electronic devices of all kinds. Being awarded this patent would position Arkados' solutions as an integral part of smart home and smart city expansion taking place on a worldwide basis and open up customer and channel opportunities across multiple industries."
