Arkados Management Platform "LinqUSP" is Successfully Enabled in Tatung's "Gateway One"
Breakthrough New Product To Be Demonstrated in Las Vegas during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show
NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arkados Group, Inc. (OTCQB: AKDS) ("Arkados"), a developer of software solutions for the home automation and energy management industries, today announced the successful inclusion of its proprietary service platform, codenamed LinqUSP, in Tatung's "Gateway One" Internet-of-Things gateway solution. "LinqUSP" allows users to conduct initial provisioning of a device immediately out of the box to quickly get it up and running. It then monitors the health of the device to ensure continuous operation, with notifications made via cloud services. Arkados is extremely pleased to announce that its breakthrough product is being demonstrated in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show in a private, invitation-only suite hosted by STMicroelectronics.
ST, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has released its unique ST2100 STreamPlug System-on-Chip (SoC) targeting smart-home and smart-energy applications to the world market. The device is already powering a new portfolio of intelligent products developed jointly by ST and Tatung, a leading electronics company for smart-home solutions.
Terrence DeFranco, Arkados CEO stated: "We are very pleased to announce our successful collaboration with Tatung and ST on the release of this game-changing "Gateway One" product. Firstly, it proves our business model as a valued partner of Tatung in the release of products jointly released by them and ST. Additionally, we are very excited about the commercialization of our proprietary "LinqUSP" product and its inclusion in Gateway One. LinqUSP features a robust user interface to easily manage an entire system from a smart phone or PC and gives users access to valuable, real-time, device-specific data, such as performance metrics, power consumption and failure warnings and notifications. LinqUSP also includes access to cloud services, which provides users with a unique ability to customize devices on the network, including even small devices, such as sensors and cameras, and provide remote access to those devices. We are very excited to announce this milestone today."
"The convergence of Home Automation, Energy Management, and Infotainment creates exciting opportunities to develop new types of products, from essential smart-home building blocks such as smart plugs, to innovative functional combinations such the LED/Loudspeaker/WiFi unit," said W. Y. Lin, President of Tatung. "This collaboration with Arkados will enable OEMs to bring innovative new ST-enabled smart-home products to market as quickly and cost-effectively as possible." - See more at: http://smartgridresearch.org/news/stmicroelectronics-and-tatung-collaborate-to-enable-smarter-homes/#sthash.xN7jecIg.dp
ST's collaboration with Tatung leveraging the ST2100 STreamPlug SoC has yielded innovations such as Tatung's Gateway One home-networking hub and other smart-energy devices. The Gateway One enables users to setup multi-bearer home networks combining Ethernet, WLAN, PLC and multimedia devices, greatly enhancing opportunities to improve energy efficiency, security, comfort and convenience throughout the home. Tatung's Meter Bridge and Home-Area Network (HAN) Bridge enable multi-occupancy dwellings to benefit from smart-energy applications, while solving consumption and billing challenges. The M1i and M3 are intelligent devices that provide energy management as well as network connectivity for devices plugged into the AC line. The M1i is optimized for industrial applications, while the M3 is featured for domestic use including charging plug-in electric vehicles.
