Artificial Intelligence Company, Nara Logics, Taps Senior Technology Executive With Scientific Roots
Jana Eggers Returns to Boston to Deliver Biologically-Inspired Personalization
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nara Logics, Inc., www.naralogics.com, an artificial intelligence company focused on turning big data into smart data, announced today the appointment of Jana Eggers as President. With over 20 years of experience building venture and privately-backed companies, defining and developing leading-edge technology, and providing industry-wide leadership, Jana's background fits perfectly with Nara Logics needs as a growing company. As President, she will be responsible for leading the company's daily operations across all divisions.
"I'm thrilled to announce Jana as Nara's President. The rare combination of her business, tech, and scientific background is extraordinary," stated Thomas Copeman, chief executive officer and founder of Nara. "Jana's a perfect complement to me and our CTO and co-founder Dr. Nathan Wilson, as we begin offering 'personalization as a platform' for companies to take advantage of our innovative approach to deep machine learning and cognitive computing."
Jana joins the team with firm roots in science, starting her career at Los Alamos National Laboratory, as a mathematician and computer scientist working on computational chemistry projects, leveraging new algorithms and supercomputing power to help define new conductive materials. Though she left science for the business of technology, she has remained influential in the world of cutting edge tech to continue to stretch her skills. Prior to joining Nara, Jana led 3x growth of venture-backed Spreadshirt as CEO, and grew Intuit's Quickbase 10x as its general manager, while also founding Intuit's corporate Innovation Lab. At Blackbaud, she managed an 850-person products and marketing team, providing inventive software to the nonprofit industry. Jana's career also includes being one of the early employees and managers at Lycos and at Cambridge-based, Basis Technology, which powered Amazon, Google, and the federal government's computational linguistics needs. Jana's passion for, and insights into, productization and customer adoption of early-stage technologies are evident throughout her career.
Jana is also an active advisor on product development, customer focus, and executive leadership, and is a frequent invited speaker at top technology events at MIT, Harvard, Lean Startup, Future Forward, and O'Reilly events.
"The first call I made after Tom contacted me was to my Los Alamos colleagues to get their feedback on the state of the art in this area and Nara's direction specifically. Obviously, the answer was positive!" Jana stated. "Joining Nara in a role that brings together my passion for and experience in science, technology, and business is an incredible opportunity. It is hard for me to express how excited I am about our potential to deliver on the promises that personalization and AI have made for years."
