As Christianity's center shifts to Global South, leaders converge in Chicago Oct. 16-18 to pioneer next generation of innovative global ministry partnerships
global:church forum shifts conversation from 'West teaches the rest' to one of collaboration; Goal is to create global initiatives that are effective and sustainable
CHICAGO, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A century ago, the average Christian was a mid-40s Western male. Today, the average Christian could be an African female in her 20s. The population epicenter of Christianity has shifted.
In fact, 60% of today's 2 billion Christians are from the Global South (Africa, Asia and Latin America) – a figure that will rise to 75% of 3 billion Christians by 2050[1].
Today's most successful Western Christian leaders embrace this shift as an opportunity for unprecedented growth, collaboration and learning within the global church – and a powerful time to foster collaboration between ministry, church, corporate, major funding and secular development groups to maximize the success of global initiatives.
global:church forum, Oct. 16-18, unites more than 23 speakers from 11 countries who will provide an unprecedented, clear picture of how ministry and development work is conducted within different cultures and economies – citing with honesty what works and what needs changing – in order to redefine models and methodologies pursued by the West.
global:church forum, hosted by re:source global, will take place Oct. 16 – 18, 2012, at Park Community Church, Chicago. Daytime working sessions are by invitation only.
