Asbestos Cancer Victims Rights Campaign Appalled with Wisconsin Assembly for Passing Legislation that Adds Burdens for Veterans, Seniors and Other Asbestos Victims
WASHINGTON, May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by Joan Claybrook, Spokesperson for the Asbestos Cancer Victims Rights Campaign:
"On behalf of asbestos cancer victims nationwide, we are appalled that the Wisconsin Assembly passed a bill that adds additional burdens for Wisconsin's veterans and seniors dying of asbestos-related cancers. Fatal asbestos cancers do not manifest until decades after exposure and then usually cause death within 18 months."
"This bill allows asbestos companies to avoid accountability and responsibility at the expense of Wisconsin veterans and senior citizens. We sincerely hope the members of the Wisconsin Senate will do the right thing and put a stop to this harmful legislation."
