AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ascendant Capital is proud to sponsor this year's Dan Jansen Celebrity Classic, which will take place September 30 to October 2, 2017 at the Trump National Golf Club Charlotte in Mooresville, N.C. The annual event brings together professional athletes and celebrities to play golf and raise funds for Cool Kids Campaign, a non-profit organization committed to providing emotional, social, and academic support for children who are battling cancer.

The golf tournament is hosted by Olympic speed skater Dan Jansen, who won the Gold Medal in the 1,000-meter race at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Past participants in the Dan Jansen Celebrity Classic include Olympic speed skater Bonnie Blair, Rascal Flatts lead guitarist Joe Don Rooney, former National Football League players Sterling Sharpe and Lance Smith, former National Hockey League players Clark Gillies and Jack O'Callahan, former Major League Baseball players Rollie Fingers and Ozzie Smith, and actor and former NFL player Ed Marinaro.

The organization's initiatives include the Cool Kids Clubhouse, a facility in Towson, Md., which allows pediatric cancer patients, their siblings, and their parents to be themselves while socializing with families in similar circumstances; Cool Kids Camp, an annual weekend sleepaway camp in the Baltimore area that invites patients and their siblings to participate; a quarterly newspaper delivered free of charge to pediatric oncology hospitals nationwide; and care packages which are sent to children newly diagnosed with cancer around the U.S.
