LAS VEGAS, May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Asembia's specialty pharmacy summit last week drew a record 5,600 attendees representing pharmacies, pharma/biotech manufacturers, drug wholesalers, payers, and technology innovators, including related industry stakeholders. This annual meeting has grown to become the largest U.S. healthcare conference for specialty pharmacy.
The four-day event filled both Wynn and Encore hotels in Las Vegas to capacity with nearly every specialty pharmacy stakeholder represented. The meeting featured a robust agenda complete with business seminars, educational sessions, networking events and an engaging exhibit experience, as well as an abundance of highly impactful presentations and panel discussions from leading industry experts who discussed current and future trends in specialty pharmacy. Emmy Award winner Leeza Gibbons emceed this year's General Session, which featured Arnold Schwarzenegger as the keynote speaker. Mike Agostino of Amber Pharmacy opened the session by presenting Gibbons with the Asembia Hendriks Caregiver of the Year award for her dedication and service to family caregivers. Insightful speeches followed from Liz Barrett, global president and general manager of Pfizer Oncology, and Donald Vidic, chief pharmacy and growth officer of AllianceRx Walgreens Prime. Both presenters offered unique professional perspectives on the current state and future direction of the industry. The session concluded with Governor Schwarzenegger's motivating and inspirational keynote with the theme: "no person is self-made."
