Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Mobile Network Transformation and Long-Term Evolution 2013-2017 Forecast and Analysis
LONDON, Jan. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportbuyer.com just published a new market research report:
Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Mobile Network Transformation and Long-Term Evolution 2013-2017 Forecast and Analysis
This IDC study presents Long Term Evolution (LTE) forecast for Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), or APEJ, through 2017. The market size and forecast is presented by two LTE product segments -- mobile Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and radio access network (RAN) eNodeB -- across 13 markets: Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. IDC forecasts that APEJ LTE RAN and mobile core spending will grow from US$1.7 billion in 2011 to US$6.2 billion in 2017 at 1.2% compound annual growth rate for 2013-2017. The low five-year CAGR does not really reflect the investment situation because in 2013, we will see a huge jump in spending to US$15.1 billion from US$5.8 billion in 2012 as China Mobile rapidly builds out its time division-LTE (TD-LTE) network in 2013-2014. Between 2013-2017, IDC forecasts a total of US$42.7 billion will be spent on LTE RAN and packet core with an average of US$8.5 billion over five years.
"APEJ has been a global leader in mobile wireless adoption and 4G LTE is no exception. 4G LTE and LTE-A, as well as continued advances in radio baseband architecture and advanced antenna technologies, are rapidly becoming a catalyst across APEJ creating a next-generation mobile ecosystem where latency, high-speed transmission, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure play critical roles. The result will be next-generation mobile services with high degree of personalization and contextualization paving the way for wearable computers, augmented reality, computer vision, and machine to machine (M2M) and Internet of Things," says Bill Rojas, director of Telecom Research at IDC Asia/Pacific.
