DUBLIN, June 02, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Assessment of China's Market for Surfactants" report to their offering.
The report estimates that the domestic market of surfactant in China is valued at over RMB 38.2 Bn at end 2014 (or USD 6.1 Bn) and RMB 40.2 Bn in 2015 (USD 6.4 Bn).
The study finds that the overall surfactant market will continue to grow with a 5-year CAGR of 5.3% over the next few years, although below estimated GDP growth rate. Segmented markets such as anionic and non-ionic surfactants will enjoy a slightly higher CAGR of 5.4% while cationic surfactant will have the lowest CAGR of 4.1% over the next five years.
In the market the 500 domestic suppliers hold a slightly greater share than 30 foreign competitors. This indicates the differences in pricing and product quality between foreign and domestic suppliers. For example in cationic segment, the average price by foreign suppliers is 1.7 times the average price by domestic suppliers, which is the largest price difference among all segments. This has been achieved through capacity expansions by domestic suppliers which have been largely taken place in 2014 and 2015. In 2014 and 2015 nine domestic suppliers had started operation of newly build ethoxylation plant for production of surfactant with added capacity of 730,000 tons collectively and eight suppliers had started or completed construction of sulfonation plants with total added capacity of over 550,000 tons. Several more capacity expansions are planned in the near future.
The research finds that the demand is gradually shifting towards greener products among anionic and non-ionic surfactants. The change is mostly due to customer's increasing awareness of environmental and health concerns, and that the green surfactants are enlarging their market revenue since they are widely used among all end-user industries. With the exception of cationic which mainly used in the textile industry, the main end-user industries for all products are detergent and personal care & cosmetics, which have the highest growth rates in recent years. The rapid growing downstream industries, in turn, have triggered relatively high growth rates in anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants.
This market study draws on a three month in-depth survey of 74 of the market's suppliers, channel players and experts. Each product segment includes: market size & shares, five-year projections, market structure, pricing trends, distribution, an assessment of key suppliers and more. Recent developments to product technology, end-user demands dynamics, and application trends are all addressed and thoroughly examined.
All end-user segments are covered (Detergent, Personal Care and Cosmetics, Industrial Cleaning, Textile and Leather, Mining, Plastics, Food, Paper, Coating...). Below subsegments are also examined and market size, market value, competitor market share and production information is covered for each product group.
