Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California Chapter Welcomes New CEO

LIVERMORE, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Associated Builders and Contractors, Northern California Chapter (ABC NorCal) announces that after an extensive search, Michele Daugherty has been named President/CEO. Michele will begin her duties as the ABC NorCal President/CEO January 1^st after being introduced at the Annual ABC National Leadership Conference, which is held November 11-13^th 2014, in Miami, Florida.

In making the announcement, Chair of the Board Dina Kimble of Royal Electrical Company stated, "Michele combines an intimate knowledge of ABC with a creative flair and entrepreneurial spirit that are second-to-none. Michele's previous success with ABC, combined with an enormous amount of enthusiasm to our cause make Michele the ideal person to lead our association into the future."

Daugherty has proudly served the ABC Nevada Chapter since 2006. She is an experienced leader with an outstanding track record of delivering results.  For the last 8 years Daugherty has dedicated herself to ABC upholding the merit shop philosophy and advancing safety and education for the construction industry.  Daugherty pioneered innovative craft training programs and created several State and Federally approved apprenticeship programs in Nevada. Her ability to convene stakeholders around shared interests,  while promoting collaborative problem solving made her an ideal choice to advance ABC NorCal's efforts in member services and merit shop advocacy.

ABC NorCal Board of Directors Chair-Elect, Greg Schniegenberg of Helix Electric noted, "Under Michele's leadership, ABC NorCal is poised to seize exciting opportunities for our members. ABC NorCal is in a great position to aid the industry in meeting the skilled workforce shortage through the utilization of our 26,000 square foot, state-of-the-art training facility for ABC NorCal's five state and federally approved apprenticeship training programs. The construction trade association currently represents 500+ companies of varying size across Northern California (from Fresno to the Oregon border) and trains 275-300 apprentices a year.
