LONDON, July 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Investigation by consumer group ''Which?'' found that Washing Machine manufacturers may actually be designing their machines in a way that repairs are so costly, they fall on par with the cost of replacement or even outdo the cost of replacing a machine altogether.
According to Which? a range of Washing Machine manufacturers (Bosch, Beko, Indesit, Hotpoint, Indesit, AEG and Zanussi ) now only design machines with sealed drums – meaning repairers cannot access vital parts should they fail, specifically the drum bearings.
One of the top 5 most common problems consumers experience is the worn bearings – and this is common knowledge amongst Insurers, as a high proportion of our claims, almost 60%, are due to this.
Insurers know just how expensive that particular job can be, and therefore can completely concur the findings of this Which? investigation.
Again, Which? research shows that machines made in the 1980's and 90's weren't made with sealed drums and that meant engineers were able to remove and replace parts, such as faulty drum bearings.
Research like this does bring back the thought of 'they just don't make them like they used to and it seems to so ring very true in this day and age.
As an insurer with a range of qualified engineers and thousands of call outs each year, such findings are more than agreeable, however one would hope a consumer is not stuck the position where this can be equally be agreed, as this means forking out a lot when it is least expected.
Luckily, Assuranty Nationwide are here to deal with that stress and take it away from you.
With stats showing such prominent faults sitting in the top 5 of all washing machine problems, and costs proving to be extraordinarily high, alongside the high possibility of BER, it just goes to show that manufactures aren't looking after consumers as they once were.
There are a lot of Insurers out there however Insuring your Washing Machine with Assuranty Nationwide starts from as little as £65 per annum, covering the costs of labour, parts, repairs and even if it is deemed as condemned or BER, the cost of replacement is also included up to the value of £500.
