Atlanta Councilperson Kwanza Hall to dedicate The Intown Academy Playground and Garden
ATLANTA, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturday, April 20th hundreds of volunteers from around the city of Atlanta will join Councilperson Kwanza Hall to assist in the building of a playground and vegetable garden at The Intown Academy - 386 Pine Street Atlanta, Georgia 30308 - www.intownacademy.org.
The Intown Academy, an Atlanta Public Schools Kindergarten-8th grade year-round charter school in the Old Fourth Ward, is raising funds to build the neighborhood's first school playground and vegetable garden. Prompted by a $15,000 Let's Play Community Construction challenge grant from the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and a national non-profit KaBOOM! for the playground and a $4,000 grant for the garden from the Institute for America's Health made possible through funding from the Walmart Foundation.
The Intown Academy is involved with District 2 Councilperson Kwanza Hall's "Year of Boulevard" initiative committed to revitalizing the neighborhood and supporting its youth through a number of programs. The Intown Academy is also partnering with several Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park businesses to raise funds for the playground this month with a series of dining fundraisers.
