Atlantis, Paradise Island Revolutionizes the Teen Club with the Opening of Hotspot - CRUSH
$11 Million Teen-only club designed by renowned nightlife architect Jeffrey Beers offers latest in gaming technology and cutting-edge dance club
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For teenagers at Atlantis, Paradise lsland, Bahamas, the new $11 million cutting-edge CRUSH that opened on January 1, 2011, takes the traditional teen club concept to new levels of imagination and innovation. The exclusive nightspot welcomed teens during a pre-opening New Years Eve party hosted by mashup master DJ Earworm.
Designed by renowned architect and interior designer, Jeffrey Beers, the 14,000 square-foot mod-inspired space boasts: an interactive Internet Lounge complete with multi-touch computers and surface tables with photo editing and publishing interfaced to Facebook; a Gaming Stadium boasting a 22-foot floor-to-ceiling Gaming Tree and private cabanas stocked with state-of-the-art technology, including the newly launched Microsoft flagship motion sensor product Kinect for Xbox 360; and a 1500 square-foot Dance Club complete with multi-purpose video walls, performance stage, VIP sections and doormen all worthy of paparazzi.
"The teen and tween audiences are becoming increasingly powerful when determining where families will go on their holiday," says George Markantonis, President and Managing Director, Kerzner International Bahamas. "CRUSH provides teens with a new and exciting experience on property unlike anything else in the marketplace today with a real focus on the technology teens are embracing such as Facebook. We understand that word-of-mouth is a powerful force and we are finding that the younger and more tech-savvy audience relies on these crowd-sourced reviews to make their travel plans. We wanted to ensure that this new Teen Club would create buzz and remain top-of-mind while setting a new standard in family travel."
Priced at $25/person, CRUSH is open from 5:30PM – 1AM for teens ages 13-17. The new club joins a comprehensive teen and tween offering on property including Club Rush, a fully-supervised "No Adults" private club setting where tweens ages 9-13 can socialize and enjoy their own evening entertainment and the Atlantis LIVE concert series featuring teen acts like: Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.
"Today's teenagers may very well be the most discerning, savvy, and independently-minded clientele so CRUSH at Atlantis is designed to create a stimulating environment that incorporates the latest technology in innovative ways to inspire interaction between guests," says Jeffrey Beers, who conducted a series of teen focus groups with Atlantis when creating the CRUSH concept. "From the extensive network of gaming systems including custom chairs with built-in speakers and subwoofers, hands-on computer tables in the lounge, to custom LED lighting systems that fluidly change over time to create unique moods, technology plays an important part of the Teen Club, and is woven into the design as though the space itself were a living, responsive extension."
Internet Lounge
Upon entering CRUSH, teens are provided with a personalized membership card. Alternating high-gloss and satin white lacquer form the walls and curved ceiling of the sleek and luxurious wireless Internet Lounge framed with striking black and white tile flooring. Orange leather banquettes, white leather and chrome barstools sit below polished chrome pebble pendants. Walnut planked columns with floor to ceiling hi-definition monitors playing custom CRUSH video art decorate the room. A collection of Microsoft surface tables and HP touch screens enable teens to browse the internet; view available games from the digital Gaming Catalog; purchase exclusive CRUSH merchandise including a custom iTouch; play a traditional table game; order a specialty mocktail from the CRUSH Cafe Menu; or upload photos directly to Facebook including e-cards decorated with the CRUSH logo. Light fare such as pizza bagels, overstuffed sandwiches and custom milkshakes are also available for order at the CRUSH Cafe framed by lime green accents and stainless steel appliances. A collection of 20 Apple iPads equipped with applications such as: Super Mega Worm, Angry Birds, Flight Control HD, Cut the Rope, Real Racing, Facebook and Twitter are also available via the Internet Lounge Gaming Concierge, who are there to assist with Gaming Cabana reservations and technology requests. Each iPad comes fitted with an exclusive CRUSH music track and video. Multi-purpose video walls decorating the lounge stream live content from the Dance Club including performances by visiting artists and DJs.
Gaming Stadium
Serving as the centerpiece for the Gaming Stadium in CRUSH, is the Gaming Tree a 22-foot floor-to-ceiling installation constructed with polished chrome and color changing LED rods, equipped with 32 flat screen televisions, 24 controller based gaming consoles - PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 - and 24 customized pod chairs featuring built-in surround sound for a true arena-inspired experience. Teens are invited to participate in hosted gaming competitions or play individually. Custom graphics are exhibited through a myriad of design applications from patterned carpets to octagonal polished-chrome screens and vibrant mod octagonal wall coverings. 65" flat screen televisions at the top of the Gaming Tree stream live competition play for spectators to gather and cheer on their friends. When a player or team wins, the entire Gaming Tree transforms with swirling color illuminating the Gaming Stadium.
Ten private Gaming Cabanas frame the stadium perimeter outfitted with the latest in progressive gaming technology including the new Microsoft flagship motion sensor product Kinect for Xbox 360, PlayStation's Move, 3D gaming capabilities, Guitar Hero and RockBand. All cabanas also come outfitted with a 55-inch 3D LED flatscreen television, surround sound and a selection of controller-based games for both novice and advanced players across PS, Xbox and Wii systems. Able to accommodate a maximum of eight and minimum of two people, the complimentary cabanas can be reserved in advance at the Internet Lounge for a period of 30-minutes. Prior to use, the dedicated cabana Gaming Concierge will pre-load requested games and personalize settings for each individual. Inspired by precious jewel tones, the multi-color cabanas are designed to coincide with their names and feature decorative polished chrome, octagonal screen walls, walnut planking, vibrantly colored leather sofas and coordinating carpet with custom octagonal graphic wall coverings. Cabana names include: Ruby, Amber, Tanzanite, Lapis, Opal, Jade, Jasper, Sapphire, Topaz and Garnet.
Dance Club
Inspired by the lavish Las Vegas nightclub experience traditionally reserved for adults, the CRUSH Dance Club boasts a 1500-square foot dance floor outfitted with a stage for intimate live performances and three raised VIP lounge areas complete with purple leather banquettes and light reflecting tables. Entry to the nightclub through the "Inside-Out Disco Ball" rotunda instantly sets the mood with its faceted beveled smoked mirror panels, marble floors with color changing LED lights and polished chrome and glass chandelier. Custom LED light tubes decorate the walls and respond to the beat and movement of the crowd featuring over 100 different clips varying in speeds, colors and patterns creating a different light show every night. DJ touch screens enable teens to make immediate song requests of the DJ from an extensive digital music catalogue while multi-purpose video walls display streaming video of performances and the dance floor. A back-lit white acrylic bar offers a selection of specialty mocktails such as a Mango Margarita made from agave nectar, mango, lime and sprite or an Almond Joy comprised of coconut, almond, chocolate and cream with a chocolate pretzel floater.
