Atlas Machine & Supply Announces "One Stop" Industrial "Roll" Center

LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc., a 107-year industrial engineering and manufacturing company, has unveiled a new comprehensive "Welding Solutions Center" located within its main facility in the Jefferson International Riverport.

The showpiece of the integrated center is a custom-built, large-capacity welding machine believed to be the largest of its type in North America. The machine, manufactured by Welding Alloys in England, is capable of welding industrial rolls weighing up to 80,000 lbs. and measuring up to 40-feet long and more than 6-feet in diameter.

The center's companion piece is a custom-built industrial furnace, measuring 20-feet long by 8-feet wide, that is capable of heating metal parts weighing up to 40 tons to a temperature of up to 1,400-degrees Fahrenheit. The furnace's computerized controls also accurately monitor part temperature to precisely control welding and heat treating parameters.

The Welder, along with the metal heating furnace, significantly expands the Louisville-based company's ability to handle larger and more complicated "roll" work generated by steel, paper and aluminum industries throughout the United States and beyond. The advanced welding center also enables Atlas to perform precision work more rapidly, which is crucial to industries needing a fast turnaround to avoid costly downtime.

The integrated welding center also has convenient access to services of the Atlas' state-of-the-art machine shop, which is located under the same roof.
