AtSite's Program 'My Building Rocks' Featured in the Wall Street Journal
WASHINGTON, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AtSite held the "My Building Rocks" annual award ceremony to honor hardworking building engineers who have aggressively reduced energy and resource consumption in their building portfolios. My Building Rocks was designed as a recognition program to show appreciation to building engineers and facility managers for their diligent efforts and dedication to reaching goals, set for their building portfolios by AtSite, in the area of Building Performance. There were several award recipients, namely, The Tower Companies who won three of the eight awards for their aggressive energy reduction plan. The Tower Companies has an impressive track record in energy reduction strategies through tools like LEED and EPA Portfolio Manager. To achieve more impressive results, The Tower Companies partnered with DC-based AtSite and implemented a real time energy management program in 2011 for the entire National Capital Region Portfolio. Tower has reduced electricity usage by almost 6% each year compared to the previous year and reduced energy usage at three DC office buildings by 17%, as compared to a 2011 normalized baseline. The results are the basis for a soon-to-be published National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) Case Study: BMS 2.0 A Case Study on Real Time Energy Management in Three Commercial Office Buildings in Washington, DC.
Other My Building Rocks award winners include; MRP, Monday Properties, and CoStar. Winners are chosen by a committee of AtSite engineers and analysts from a pool of over 100 potential candidates. AtSite's My Building Rocks program also provides a forum to discuss successes, challenges, and best practices with peers in other organizations across the country.
