CLEVELAND, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The most recent data from the National Crime Information Center pegs the number of missing persons in the U.S. at over 800,000 and growing annually. This problem is an epidemic that strikes all strata of society in all geographic locations.
Cleveland-headquartered Attevo, Inc., a professional services firm, has developed a web-based missing persons application for state, county and municipal governments. This system allows police to instantaneously post 23-point descriptive profiles along with photos of individuals who have been reported missing. The primary purposes of the system are to increase the visibility of those missing and to give their families a means to aid in their return. Family members can download and print posters of their loved ones for distribution in the community.
A prototype is in development for the Android mobile device platform and is expected to launch in June 2011. The prevailing objective is to encourage information sharing and accessibility for all, aiding the search for missing persons.
Kindra Helm, Director of Attevo's Public Sector practice stated, "Public Safety officials across the country are anxious to leverage technology in all ways possible. Shrinking public funds in combination with the increase in missing person cases presents an enormous challenge. The widespread use of the internet has given families and officials a level of hope that didn't exist before."
Attevo provides state, county and municipal governments across the country with technology guidance and solutions. The Attevo Public Sector serves as a trusted advisor and has implemented enterprise information systems for public safety, courts, public works, zoning, taxation and park departments. Attevo also delivers business consulting services to large, enterprise-class organizations that include mobility banking, risk management, program management, master data management, business intelligence and strategic information planning.
