Attorney Alexandra Martinez Victorious In Keeping "Duped Dad" From Paying An Alleged $230,000.00 in Child Support
CHICAGO, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago family law attorney Alexandra Martinez from the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd. won a significant victory protecting her client – a non-biological father – from having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in child support for a child that was not even his.
Despite a previous ruling in favor of Martinez's client vacating a 1988 judgment for child support totaling up to $230,000.00 with interest, the state continued to waste tax payer dollars pursuing the duped dad for payment of money. Yesterday, Martinez was victorious. Cook County Judge Johnson ruled in her favor and denied the State of Illinois' Motion to Reconsider.
"I am relieved that justice has been done in this case," stated Martinez. "Our client faced not only false allegations of paternity, but the added anguish of potential financial ruin at the hands of the prosecution. With so many better ways to spend tax dollars, it is unbelievable to me that the government would use valuable resources trying to force our client to pay support for a child that isn't even his."
