MIAMI LAKES, Fla., Aug. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Attorney Eric Matheny recently signed a contract with Porfirio Press for eBook and print format of his book, The Victim to be released on March 19, 2015. The Victim pulls from Matheny's experience in the legal system as a criminal defense lawyer and former prosecutor. Regardless of whether or not a reader likes crime and legal drama, this book is set to draw the attention of many.
The Victim is a legal thriller set Matheny's own back yard, the Miami criminal court system. It is based around the life of a young defense attorney who has a dark and mysterious past. As he takes on a new case for a client possibly accused of a rather terrible crime, he begins to unravel his own past while investigating this new crime. While one story is being solved, the other seems to become even more complex.
Matheny was born in Los Angeles, California and went to Arizona State University for his undergraduate work. Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Matheny then went to St. Thomas University School of Law. He interned at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office for a year and was offered a position as Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. In 2009, Matheny left the State Attorney's office to pursue a criminal defense career with the Law Offices of Eric M. Matheny. With experience in over 50 trials and extensive knowledge of prosecution's approach, Matheny fights for the defense of his clients.
