Attorney Mark Shank Receives Dallas Bar Foundation's Fellows Justinian Award for Volunteer Service
DALLAS, March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Accomplished attorney Mark A. Shank, managing partner of the Dallas litigation boutique Gruber Elrod Johansen Hail Shank, has been honored with the 2016 Fellows Justinian Award by the Dallas Bar Foundation, based on his many years of volunteer work in the community. The prestigious award, whose previous recipients include Dallas legal legends such as Ron Kirk, Harriett Miers, Darrell Jordan and Adelfa Callejo, is presented annually to a local attorney and DBA member who exemplifies the organization's commitment to professional and community service.
At a luncheon on Wednesday, March 30, Mr. Shank was introduced by his law partner and 2012 Justinian Award recipient Michael Gruber as someone who always wants to do more. "Mark has a complete inability to leave well enough alone," said Mr. Gruber. "In working with him on a vision and plans for Habitat for Humanity, Mark was always pushing, always asking, 'what if we could rebuild communities, instead of just houses?'"

Mr. Shank's civic and professional leadership roles include prior service as president of the Dallas Bar Association, director for the State Bar of Texas, chairman of the Texas Bar Foundation, chairman of the Dallas Breakfast Group, and chairman of Dallas Habitat for Humanity.
Among numerous professional honors, Mr. Shank has been named to D Magazine's annual list of the Best Lawyers in Dallas each year since 2001. He also has earned a spot on the annual Texas Super Lawyers list of the state's top attorneys every year since 2003, the first year the guide was published.
Mr. Shank represents clients in a variety of labor and employment and business litigation matters in state and federal courts across the nation. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, he is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He also serves an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
