Attunity to Simplify Zero-Downtime Migrations to SQL Server 2016 with Microsoft Collaboration
Attunity complements migration program by enabling faster adoption of the latest release of Microsoft's leading database and data warehousing platform
BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Attunity Ltd. (NASDAQ CM: ATTU), a leading provider of Big Data management software solutions, announced today a collaboration with Microsoft Corp. to enable faster and easier adoption of Microsoft SQL Server 2016, which became generally available today. Utilizing award-winning Attunity Replicate's high-performance data replication and change data capture (CDC) technologies, the cooperation simplifies and accelerates zero-downtime migrations from systems like Oracle and other databases to SQL Server 2016, the latest version of Microsoft's market-leading database and data warehousing platform running on-premises or on Microsoft Azure.
SQL Server 2016 addresses a very large market, as it was designed with several improvements over earlier versions, including faster transactions and queries, advanced analytics, and new hybrid cloud scenarios. To facilitate the process of migrating to the new database, Microsoft created a special migration program called 'Break Free from Oracle', which offers free database licenses to a large segment of customers. As customers look to migrate they need to deal with the inherent complexities in moving data between different databases and reduce the risk of outage. Attunity addresses these needs and the companies are collaborating to help drive the adoption.
Specifically, Attunity Replicate enables real-time migration via its change data capture (CDC) technology and continuous replication capabilities. The solution ensures data integrity and configurable automation for fast and easy processing, enabling enterprises to accelerate data migration to Microsoft platforms while reducing the time and effort required to manage, monitor and integrate heterogeneous systems.
"This program continues our strategic collaboration with Microsoft to provide innovative technology that facilitates data movement into the Microsoft platform," said Itamar Ankorion, EVP Business Development and Corporate Strategy at Attunity. "Attunity Replicate is uniquely positioned to help Microsoft customers with its broad support for migrating data from many databases and enable enterprises to take full advantage of SQL Server 2016 as both a database and a data warehouse platform, whether on-premises or on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform."
"Customers who want a simplified migration of on-premises data from Oracle and other traditional database management systems will benefit from Attunity Replicate support for SQL Server 2016," said Tiffany Wissner, Senior Director, Data Platform Marketing at Microsoft. "Attunity Replicate's change data capture technology complements our Break Free from Oracle migration program because it enables customers to scale large migrations and hybrid deployments seamlessly."
