AUA Charities Benefit as Testopel® & Cash Cab Team Up to Help During AUA's Annual Meeting
SAN FRANCISCO, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Slate Pharmaceuticals -- Charities backed by the American Urology Association (AUA) received ten thousand dollars ($10,000) during the AUA's recently completed annual meeting in San Francisco, thanks to an effective and fun effort sponsored by Testopel®, an FDA-approved testosterone replacement therapy product.
As physicians and others attending this year's AUA event neared the Testopel® booth, they noticed a familiar vehicle and a familiar face – a big black London cab and standing next to it was Ben Bailey, the popular host and driver of the Discovery Channel's hit show, Cash Cab.
Just like on the TV show, physicians who jumped in the "TestoCab" were asked trivia questions that elevated in difficulty and worth, with each correct answer ticking up the charitable contribution from Slate Pharmaceuticals Inc., the Durham, NC, company that markets Testopel®.
"Simulating this Discovery Channel hit show at our AUA booth was a fun way for Testopel® to raise money for the AUA Foundation's good works," said Slate Pharmaceuticals Executive Vice President Cindy Whitehead. "Ben Bailey was great at getting everyone into the spirit of the game and each participant seemed to enjoy knowing that the better he did, the more Testopel® would be donating to help AUA advance the good works of its charitable foundation."
The nonprofit foundation of the American Urology Association is dedicated to supporting research, education and patient support services for those who are or may be at risk to be affected by a urologic disease or disorder. The Foundation's education councils have distributed over 6 million brochures nationwide to patients, and the public, grassroots organizations, physicians, medical specialty groups, allied health care workers and corporations. The Foundation offers a membership program to keep medical professionals, patients, family members and friends informed about urologic disorders, the latest treatment options and up-to-date research findings.
Like the AUA Foundation, Slate Pharmaceuticals is committed to raising awareness and creating solutions for common men's health issues that deserve greater attention.
"We were delighted about the success of this creative event," said Cindy Whitehead, "and the end result of presenting a check to AUA for $10,000 to support such important public health initiatives."
