NEW YORK, March 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 22, in support of World Water Day, Aura Frames has partnered with charity: water to create a limited edition, crystal blue, smart digital picture frame with the goal of raising both awareness and funds for a truly important cause.
World Water Day was created to bring attention to the growing water crisis that currently faces 663 million people living without access to safe, clean water; the most basic necessity.
Every $1 invested in clean water yields $4–$12 in economic returns. Aura will produce 500 limited edition frames engraved with a production number. For every limited edition frame sold, Aura will donate $60 to charity: water.
Aura's $30,000 in donations will fund three hand-dug wells giving clean water to three communities in need. Each month Aura and charity: water will automatically release a collectable image that will be pushed to the frame, helping to continue the story and keep Aura users connected to the cause of clean water.
Access to clean water is an incredibly powerful tool for sparking economic growth. When a community gets access to clean water, it can change just about everything; improve health, increase access to food, grow local economies, and help kids spend more time in school.
Abdur Chowdhury, co-founder of Aura is an ardent supporter of charity: water not only due to the importance of the cause, but because Well Members (private donors) cover all operating costs, so 100% of donations can fund water projects. Everyone at Aura is committed to building a great business and making sure they do their part in making the world a little better. Aura has also reserved 1% of their stock for charitable causes. Aura launched in 2016 and quickly became one of the most coveted items for the holidays, even landing on Oprah's Favorite Things. Creating a co-branded frame to celebrate World Water Day with charity: water seemed the ideal way to give back.
"It's been an amazing honor to develop a frame for charity: water, as it's an organization that is near to my heart," said Chowdhury. "We hope that not only do these frames raise much needed funds for new wells, but also help continue the charity: water story in your home. Once a month we will push a new photo taken on-site at a well by charity: water to your frame and follow up with an email about why the picture is important. Just giving you a quick monthly reminder about such an important cause and the great work charity: water is doing."
Aura is a smart digital picture frame and app that will fundamentally change the way photography is experienced. The first of its kind, Aura merges high-end home design with complex technology to provide a zero-effort solution for displaying and sharing the best photos in your smartphone's camera roll.
