Austin ISD Rolls Out TEAMS™ Online Student Registration & Enrollment to its 82,000 District Families after Successful Pilot

AUSTIN, Texas, April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Austin ISD recently completed a successful soft launch of TEAMS™ Online Student Registration & Enrollment to a select number of campuses and has begun its district-wide rollout to 82,000 student families. The first day of the rollout was April 6, 2015. According to Brenda Richmond, MIS Student Data Systems Manager and Registered Texas School Business Associate (RTSBA) for Austin ISD, the district processed approximately 1,000 student enrollments within the first 24 hours of launch, with very few phone calls.
"We used another system for online registration over the past couple of years that didn't tie into the student information system. It was hard to log in with secret passcodes that had to be emailed to parents rather than given over the phone. Most passcodes ended up in junk folders which added to the confusion. It was also hard to navigate," recalled Richmond. The district saw TEAMS as a natural fit since they have been using the TEAMS Student Information System for the last five years. "This is an incredible system that didn't cost us another dollar to have, since we already had the Student Information System. The cost savings over our previous system in terms of paperwork, workflow processes and personnel is substantial," added Richmond.
The district has seen an immediate benefit. "Campuses are in love with the TEAMS registration system and even our campus clerks were amazed at how easy it is to use. The campus clerks couldn't wait to begin their own communication plans to parents," noted Richmond.
Before Austin ISD unveiled the system to the entire district, they brought in a focus group of parents to run TEAMS online registration and enrollment through its paces. According to Richmond, they were amazed at how easy it was to use and when they changed a phone number or other data in the registration component, it automatically changed it everywhere in the system. The focus group suggested some color and wording changes that were quickly incorporated into the system. "We value the relationship we have with districts like Austin ISD.
