Author Bernard Bushell Offers NFL Free Books and Advice to Help Prevent Player Sexual Abuse
NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The NFL is in trouble, again.
Ray Rice, of the Baltimore Ravens, Aaron Hernandez, of the New England Patriots and now Phillip Merling of the Miami Dolphins are all in domestic violence struggles.
To that end, an author with a three-letter formula for understanding the sexes has agreed to fund the 1,696 copies of his book to better educate NFL players.
Bernard Bushell, author of The Formula, How I Found It and What It Can Do For You, says that education of NFL team members is the answer to female abuse by players and a better understanding of the sexes. The cost savings to teams, players, and family members runs into the millions, says the author.
He recently returned from a speaking engagement before the International Association of Administrative professionals, Mesa, Arizona chapter, where he addressed the members on the differences in communicating between the sexes.
Bushell's contention is that men do not understand women and visa-versa. "If so," he says, "over half our marriages would not end in divorce (with women instituting over 70 percent of divorces)."
The NFL is a perfect example of a high profile organization being crippled by sex abuse. He adds that the misunderstanding is based upon a lack of education about the differences between the sexes.
The basis of his book, The Formula, available on Amazon, has helped hundreds of people. His offer to supply the NFL teams with the book at his own expense comes from his belief that his own failed marriage could have been avoided had he known what the sexes were about.
This out-of-pocket expense, Bushell believes, is an investment in saving thousands of children each year the trauma and heartache of living with dysfunctional parents, and sets a precedent for their own lives for years to come.
USA Today maintains a database of arrests, charges, and citations (maintained by Brent Schrotenboer) for anything more serious than a traffic violation, going back to 2000, and revealing 713 instances in which pro football players have had run-ins with the law, as reported in the news media. "Even though the NFL record of arrests is below the national average," says the author, "the celebrity status of its players sends a bad message to youngsters. Knowing the principles of The Formula can help minimize the problem.
An understanding of the nature of the sexes, says Bushell, is the best way to avoid this destructive behavior and its consequences.
