ST. LOUIS, May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Artisan bacon maker, chef, and entrepreneur John Kreilich is turning to the internet to raise funds for his company, Naked Bacon, which produces gourmet, all natural bacon, with no nitrates, nitrites, chemicals, phosphates, gluten, or water. The recipe stems from his great grandfather, who came over from Germany to the United States in 1861. Naked Bacon tastes like bacon did 150 years ago. It is cured with a secret blend of herbs and spices and it has a flavor profile unlike any other bacon on the market today.
Naked Bacon's IndieGoGo campaign launched May 26th, and will run until July 25th. During this time period, they hope to raise $75,000, which will be used to hire national food distributors and for advertising and marketing services to support the products during national distribution. Asked why Indiegogo.com was appealing, Kreilich noted, "The ability to reach people all over the country and internationally while spreading the word quickly online and providing status updates to the public is priceless."
When asked how he would describe Naked Bacon, Kreilich noted, "We think of ourselves as the Ben and Jerry's of bacon. We are one of the first companies to do all natural bacon with different flavors, which is what Ben and Jerry's did for ice cream many years ago."
Naked Bacon is one of the first lifestyle brands in the meat and especially bacon sectors. In addition to Ben and Jerry's, they align themselves with other lifestyle brands including Life is Good, Burt's Bee's, and Naked Juice. When they were creating their branding, they said if Ben and Jerry's and Life is Good got in a room and wanted to create a bacon company, what would that look like? And then Naked Bacon was born! What they are doing is reinvigorating and reinventing the way people look at bacon.
