Award-Winning Photographer Peter Lik Teams Up With Tech Giant Samsung
World-Renowned Industry Leaders Collaborate on Massive Campaign to Introduce New Galaxy S6 edge+
NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung China and highly acclaimed landscape photographer, Peter Lik, have launched a fresh campaign to unveil the unprecedented camera capabilities of the new Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphone – set to revolutionize the way in which tech-savvy millennial capture the world around them.
Samsung, a celebrated pioneer in the field of electronics, has been the world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones since 2012. The recent release of its highly popular Galaxy S6 series, takes the camera phone concept to the next level. Featuring 16MP (megapixel) technology, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 edge and the Galaxy S6 edge+ are all impressively capable of capturing crystal clear images of the natural world.
Enter Australian-born Peter Lik, one of the best-selling photographers of all-time – best known for his incomparable, panoramic landscape images. With fourteen galleries around the U.S., and a slew of prestigious awards under his belt, Lik has recently gained even more popularity when his 2014 masterpiece, Phantom, became the most expensive photograph ever sold ($6.5 million). During August's Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ launch event in Shanghai, China – attended by over a thousand enthusiasts and media representatives – Lik displayed multiple stunning images he captured in the U.S. and China, all of which were taken using Galaxy devices. This kick off marks the beginning of this collective effort between Peter and Samsung China, set to continue throughout 2016. The next big step will be a highly publicized photo exhibit, showcasing over 30 images captured by the world-renowned Artist. Peter's works will tour major cities in China, ending in a much-anticipated Galaxy photo auction.

Galaxy Explorer
Galaxy Explorer, a photography team formed by Samsung & Peter Lik which will consist of Peter Lik, one selected team of Chinese photographers and a full filming crew is starting its selection process in China. The Galaxy Explorer team will travel all over China to take the best photographs using the cameras on Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus, and the filming crew will document the entire exploration.
Following the Pre-event PR/Promotions, Galaxy Explorer will start accepting applications and select total of 30 teams (1st screening). The 30 teams who made the 1st cut will give presentations on why they are best fit as members of the Galaxy Explorer to a panel of judges also go through a interview process to select 5 teams (2 photographers per team) as finalists (2nd screening). The judges will then discuss and select only one team to become a member of the Galaxy Explorer.
After the Galaxy S6 Plus announcement, there be a Galaxy Explorer Kick Off Ceremony where Peter Lik presents 'Certifications' to the two selected photographers. Renowned Chinese photographers & explorers will serve as 'mentors' to this selected team in order to prepare them for the exploration.
The entire trip will be 8 days long, which during the course of event the selected team is required to post photographs that shows & tells us exciting stories from their exploration. After the 8 days, the postings of all photography & stories will complete, and their work will be critiqued by Peter Lik and the judge panel. The Galaxy Explorers will be honored at the Disbanding Ceremony/Award Show, where the rewards of becoming members of the Galaxy Explorers will be presented; cash prize of 100,000 RMB, and an opportunity to work with Peter Lik on a collaboration project.
There will be viral online postings and offline photo exhibitions throughout China, and the photos from Galaxy Explorers will continue to be used in advertisement and promotional campaigns for Samsung & Peter Lik.

About Peter Lik
Peter Lik began capturing the wonders of nature as a young boy in his native Australia and never stopped. In 1984, Lik migrated to the U.S. and discovered his passion for panoramic photography. One of Lik's most notable projects, "Spirit of America," is a 50-state landscape exploration of perilous deserts, ethereal mountain peaks, lush fields and glimmering cityscapes. Peter Lik's love for America and its landscapes led him to become a naturalized citizen in 2013. Over the years, Lik's career has been marked with award wins as a Master Photographer from both the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). He has also been awarded fellowships from the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) and The Royal Photographic Society (RPS). In 2011, Peter jumped into mainstream culture by starring in the NBC-produced TV series, "From the Edge with Peter Lik." With 14 galleries around the United States, Peter Lik counts presidents and celebrities among his collectors.
