NEW YORK, May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AXA Financial, Inc. announced that Barbara Fallon-Walsh and Bertram Scott have been elected to the Boards of Directors of AXA Financial, Inc., AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company, MONY Life Insurance Company and MONY Life Insurance Company of America. The elections were effective May 15, 2012.

Barbara Fallon-Walsh
Barbara Fallon-Walsh recently retired as head of Vanguard's Institutional Retirement Plan Services business. Fallon-Walsh's previous roles at Vanguard include head of High Net Worth Services and head of Participant Education and Institutional Marketing. She was twice named one of the "100 Most Influential People in Defined Contribution" by 401kWire. Fallon-Walsh joined Vanguard in 1995 as head of the Specialized Services Group where she led a portfolio of retail businesses, including Vanguard Brokerage Services, Investment Advisor Services, Individual Retirement Services and Vanguard Annuity Services.
Prior to joining Vanguard, Fallon-Walsh spent 16 years with Bank of America/Security Pacific Corporation, where she held various senior leadership positions in retail banking, strategic planning, marketing, product management and electronic delivery. She earned a B.S. from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Bertram L. Scott
Bertram Scott recently retired from Cigna, where he was president of U.S. Commercial. Prior to joining Cigna, he served as executive vice president and chief institutional development and sales officer at TIAA-CREF. He joined TIAA-CREF in 2000 as president of the company's life insurance business. In 2003, he took over management of all products for the company, including group annuities and mutual funds. Prior to TIAA-CREF, Scott served as president and chief executive officer of the Horizon/Mercy Health Plan, a joint Medicaid managed care program between Mercy Health Plan of Pennsylvania and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey. In 2004, he was named as one of the "75 Most Powerful Blacks in Corporate America" by Black Enterprise magazine. He has also been included in Fortune magazine's "The 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in America."
Scott currently serves on the board of Becton Dickinson Corporation. He has been a member of its Audit Committee since 2002, and its Compensation and Benefits Committee since 2010. He also serves on the boards of the American Heart Association, Yodil, Inc. and De Paul University. Previously, Scott served on the boards Carolina's Medical Center, the United Way of Central Carolinas, the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority. Scott holds a B.B.A. degree from DePaul University.
