STONY BROOK, N.Y., Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on success of last year's event, Stony Brook University's Center for Corporate Education (CCE, https://www.stonybrook.edu/cce/), is hosting its next Women in STEM Leadership Program. Given the nation's critical need for more qualified professionals in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and today's heightened focus on greater parity for women in the workplace, the program couldn't be timelier.
This year's three-day program will take place from April 9-12, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1 Circle Road, Stony Brook, NY. It will provide an immersive, interactive course designed to give current and future leaders in the STEM industries practical tools, insights and connections to support their career advancement. Organizations in STEM sectors are encouraged to register their women employees in positions ranging from lower c-suite to middle management, as well as those in roles of physicists, scientists, researchers and data analysts, among others. CCE Executive Director Patricia Malone noted that, "The conversation around women's roles in the workplace and gender equity has never been more compelling and engaging. Through our Women in STEM Leadership Program, we help women crystallize their career vision, gain tools and strategies for career advancement, build their confidence and develop personal roadmaps with plans, goals and actionable steps to achieve them. The program is also a catalyst to move organizations to change their culture to embrace women in leadership roles and support them in the process."
The program's curriculum will be led by well-established facilitators and instructors from academia, global consulting and diverse industries. Each will bring their own expertise to empower and arm participants with the practical skills and confidence needed in effective leaders. They will draw on their extensive knowledge in areas ranging from executive assessments, assimilation and coaching, to organizational performance, innovation, engagement and science-based approaches to practical organizational problems. A keynote speaker for the program will be Florence Hudson, Founder & CEO at FDHint, LLC and a successful entrepreneur, author, technology executive and consultant in areas that include advanced technology, strategy, diversity and inclusion. Also on the agenda will be Bonnie Marcus, M.Ed., an award-winning entrepreneur with over 20 years of sales and management experience, and the author of The Politics of Promotion: How High Achieving Women Get Ahead and Stay Ahead.
