Back-To-School Tips to End Summer Vacation the Right Way
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18. 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- While having your kids back in school can be a relief, getting them there is much more stressful. Back-to-school shopping is exhausting, and helping your kids adjust back to the school routine can be hectic. Fortunately, Kids In The House experts have the advice and tips you need to start the school year off right!
Brooke Burke-Charvet, TV host and CEO of ModernMom.com, has a simple solution to frantic back-to-school shopping.
"I'm a big online shopper when it comes to back to school," Burke-Charvet explains. "I don't want to deal with the retail masses. I don't want to deal with every other stressed out mom in the store. I know my kids' shoe sizes. I know their brands. I can order it all online, and it comes right to my doorstop."
Samantha Ettus, a lifestyle expert for working moms, encourages parents to make friends with other parents at the school as a means of support.
"Find two moms at each of your children's school that you can count on," Ettus says. "…So if you can't make a pick up one day or you're traveling, you can really count of the team of moms that you've created for your support. That means that when you are in town and you're available, you're always volunteering to help them so that it is easier to ask for help when you need to."
Burke-Charvet and Ettus both advise moms and dads to be "super organized" when it comes to getting ready for the school year. They encourage parents to get a big calendar where all appointments and activities are recorded for each member of the family. Both of these working moms also stress the importance of having a good morning routine in place when school starts.
"Pack the lunches the night before," Burke-Charvet urges. "I also set the breakfast table the night before, so I'm not scrambling with four kids at six in the morning."
