Bald Girls Do Lunch Announces California Events
Savvy Support for Women with Alopecia Areata
SCARBOROUGH, N.Y., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bald Girls Do Lunch is pleased to announce two upcoming events in support of women diagnosed with alopecia areata. The first event is a dinner on November 13 at Vignette Pizzeria at the Barlow in Sebastopol, CA at 6 p.m. and the second is a brunch on November 15 at the Santa Clara Marriott at 11 a.m.
Bald Girls Do Lunch® (BGDL) is a nonprofit advocacy organization for alopecia areata with global influence to help women who suffer from the condition to network and learn new coping methods. BGDL founder Thea Chassin, will be in attendance to offer expert tips for "Living Well with AlopeciaTM ." BGDL Brow Makeup will be available for demo and purchase along with highly fashionable scarf-wrap and tying demos.
"We all know first-hand what it's like to be mistaken for a cancer patient," says Chassin, who was diagnosed with the condition in 1997. Attendees are welcome to come as they please, whether that means wearing a hat, wig, scarf, or au naturale. Women with any duration and all stages of the autoimmune condition are encouraged to share in the camaraderie and learn from Chassin's expertise.
Alopecia Areata is a skin disease that disrupts hair growth all over the body: head, brows, lashes, etc. There are currently neither guaranteed treatments nor a cure for the condition, which can be permanent or intermittent. BGDL also provides up-to-date medical news on the condition at blog.baldgirlsdolunch.org.
Dr. Cynthia Bailey, a California dermatologist, commonly treats patients with alopecia areata. In reference to the frustrating condition, Bailey states, "You really learn just how important a 'normal' appearance is when you are threatened with a change in it that you can't control!"
Bald Girls Do Lunch is a 501(c)(3) public charity that has been awarded three Gold Triangle Awards from the American Academy of Dermatology for their advocacy work. They also hold a top-rated status at GreatNonProfits.org. Those wanting to attend either event must RSVP by Nov. 10. The Sebastopol Dinner is $35 and the Santa Clara Brunch is $32. Those who wish to donate or simply learn about the organization may get more information at BaldGirlsDoLunch.org.
