BancorpSouth Opens Banking Office in Austin, Texas
- Veteran banking team leads BancorpSouth's new Austin office
- Loan production office provides range of commercial and consumer products and services
TUPELO, Miss., Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BancorpSouth Bank, subsidiary of BancorpSouth, Inc. (NYSE: BXS), has opened a loan production office at 11612 Bee Caves Road in Austin, Texas, providing a broad range of financial services to the Austin metropolitan area.
BancorpSouth's Austin team consists of a group of financial services veterans, including Michael Meyer, Executive Vice President; Lynda Shelton, Vice President and Senior Loan Administrative Assistant; and Cheryl Newcomer, First Vice President.
The BancorpSouth team is focusing on providing clients a broad range of commercial and consumer banking services, including commercial real estate, construction, residential and consumer lending.
Mike Meyer is acting Regional President for BancorpSouth's Central Texas Region, overseeing the Austin, Houston and Sugar Land banking offices. Mike has 26 years of commercial banking experience, 14 of which have been loan production and management positions in the Austin market area, including CEO and president of a local independent bank.
Prior to joining BancorpSouth, Mike served with a publicly traded regional bank for 10 years; most recently as president of the central Texas area for the last eight years. Mike has also been involved in the private sector, as president and owner of a Dallas medical equipment and respiratory services business for nine years. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Southwestern School of Banking at SMU.
Lynda Shelton has over 33 years of professional level experience in financial lending in the Austin area. Lynda's experience includes residential & commercial real estate, as well as commercial, professional & executive, and consumer lending. Prior to joining BancorpSouth, Lynda served as a vice president and lending assistant at the Lakeway, Texas banking center of a publicly traded regional bank for the last 14 years. She is an honor graduate from Durham Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin, Texas, where she studied to be an executive/legal secretary and has furthered her education with numerous banking and real estate courses and programs. Lynda is a long-time resident of Dripping Springs, Texas, a suburb of Austin and an active member of the Lake Travis Lions Club in Lakeway, Texas.
Cheryl Newcomer has 36 years banking experience in Louisiana and Texas, with 21 of those years at BancorpSouth. Cheryl has joined the Austin team from her previous position in BancorpSouth's Monroe, LA division where she had responsibilities in retail management, human resources, marketing and sales. Cheryl has been active with Habitat for Humanity, American Heart Association and numerous other community support organizations.
