The #girlspopup began as a tiny treasure box in the back of ban.do's LA office — a.k.a. "Party House" — packed with Gotch's favorite things. "These are things I love, by people I love. Some of it doesn't make sense and some of it is ridiculous," says Gotch. "But it's my form of teenage rebellion, and I'm 43 and think I deserve a good teenage rebellion, right?"
The LA shop cultivates personal engagement in real time between ban.do and its #bandogirlgang — the many artists and customers that ban.do interacts with regularly — and will continue to fuel its new online sister in rounding out the ban.do girl.
ban.do has always been in the business of cheerleading talent and helping artists' work get seen. The wildly popular ban.do agenda features the commissioned work of 12 female illustrators, graphic designers, and artists, all featured on ban.do's website. The online #girlspopup gives even more artists the opportunity to reach a whole new audience.
