Bank of Nanjing Sponsors 2015 Nanjing Gaochun International Marathon scheduled on November 15th

GAOCHUN, China, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2015 Nanjing Gaochun International Marathon will be held on November 15, 2015 in Gaochun, a districtin south Nanjing, Jiangsu province. The Bank of Nanjing will serve as the title sponsor. As a result of recent trends to emphasize the health advantages of running a "slow" marathon, Gaochun has been the first city in China to be named as an International Slow City. This eight hour marathon event will emphasize that each runner pace themselves and jog more slowly than what has been normally expected during a marathon, in line with the theme. 

The course starts and finishes in Gaochun Stadium and travels through several famous landmarks, including Gaochun Old Street, Shuiman Town and Gucheng Lake Bridge. The event consists of a full marathon, a half marathon as well as several 5 km running races and has drawn nearly 10,000 participants. 

In a move to highlight the local delicacies of the district, the organizing committee will reward each runner who completes the full course of each race with a male and female pair of Gucheng Lake crabs which will be included in their reward bag. At the same time, all participants of full and half marathon races will, before the race, be provided with a special sports protection bag that will include medical necessities, including kinesio taping, a sports patch, adhesive bandages and an instant ice pack. A spokesperson for the organizing committee explained, "This will be the first marathon in China to provide a seafood delicacy or special sports protection bags to the runners."

In preparation for the event, the organizing committee has set up two large supply stations alongside the race track, both of which will provide water, sports drinks, fruits and local special pastries, allowing runners to have an opportunity to sample some local delicacies during the slow race. "In addition, a music service station has been established alongside the race track to refuel runners with exciting music, coupled with a sports supermarket which will provide local Gaochun and Nanjing specialties for participants from outside the city who won't have the time to have a tour of the city," added the spokesperson.
