Bar Connoisseur Steve Mahoney Opens Third San Antonio Locale
George's Keep Adds Craft Cocktail Bar to Onsite Offerings at the Eilan
SAN ANTONIO, May 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- George's Keep, the third bar concept by Steve Mahoney, opened recently at the Eilan. Situated in a two-story, 3,000 square foot indoor, 1,500 square foot outdoor space, George's Keep is the first bar in the Eilan development. Like other concepts from Mahoney, George's Keep highlights the diligence that goes into each expertly crafted cocktail.
Patrons of Mahoney's concepts have grown to appreciate the careful attention given to each drink the bars produce. From a simple Old Fashioned, to an Absinthe Frappe or a Pisco sour, each cocktail boasts fresh ingredients, perfect proportions and most importantly, excellent taste.
While strict calculations are used to craft each drink, the bar's atmosphere and mixologists exude a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. Bartenders are more than happy to craft drinks to suit any taste, and the old photos and paintings that line the walls are reminiscent of a bar that feels more like a living room than a commercial establishment.
"We want each of our concepts to become the 'neighborhood bar,' which is why we were drawn to the Eilan location," said Mahoney. "With offices and residences in the same development, we hope that George's Keep will be a place where locals come to unwind."
Like the Pearl Brewery, which is home to Mahoney's Blue Box Bar, the Eilan focuses on a "live, work, play" concept perfect for a neighborhood bar. The mixed-use development blends luxury apartments, office space, hotel and spa, shopping and bountiful amenities.
The bar's casually elegant atmosphere can be credited to interior designer, Hillary Conrey of Courtney & Company. The upstairs and downstairs make for two distinct environments; the upper bar has a more daytime feel and focuses on lighter cocktails, while the lower bar serves brown spirits and boozier drinks in a more masculine atmosphere.
A curated collection of gallery hung photos adorn the walls of the bar and give it an old American feel. The upstairs bar is thick slab of reclaimed Carrara marble with brass straps added by local artists Robert Diaz, while the lower bar is copper and was also created by Diaz.
George's Keep is located at 17101 La Cantera Parkway in the Eilan and is situated just above the new Piatti Restaurant. George's Keep is open from 3:00pm to 2:00am seven days a week. The bar is managed by Johnny Bernal and Steve Martin. For more information, visit www.GeorgesKeep.com or call 210-310-3711.
