Basic Solutions Appoints New Aviation Deicing Expert: Ian Sharkey to Join North American Team

TORONTO, April 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's leading provider of deicing solutions to the aviation industry, Basic Solutions, has expanded its North American team with the appointment of Pennsylvania-based industry expert, Ian Sharkey as Vice President US.

Sharkey, 53, who boasts an impressive 37 years of experience in the aviation industry will be working alongside Basic Solutions' North American President Kelvin Williamson to build upon recent success in Canada and Europe. Mr. Sharkey, will continue the Basic Solutions "GEN3" roll out, offering the world-wide patented 3rd Generation Runway Deicer to airports across the United States. "GEN3" provides excellent operational performance while vastly reducing carbon brake decay and wiring oxidation on aeroplanes, solving a major hurdle for the industry. The non-toxic bio-degradable formula is now used at airports across the world, including numerous airports coast to coast in Canada.

Sharkey began his career with the airlines in aircraft maintenance engineering before getting heavily involved with airport operations and aircraft deicing for Canadian Airlines International in Toronto. His achievements later took him to Hudson General Aviation Services where he was responsible for all deicing and glycol recovery services. Latterly Mr. Sharkey was Vice President, Operations for Radiant Aviation Services in Niagara, New York State, where he was instrumental in the sale and subsequent operation of a multi-million dollar aircraft deicing facility at JFK International Airport. He is also a long time member of a variety of industry bodies including the SAE G12 Aircraft Deicing Committees.
