be* is an awareness-raising online game (bejcvg.eu) which aims to engage its users to respect gender differences.
be* is based on a social storytelling model to stimulate exchange and conversation, most of all with younger generations.
be* is part of the EU-funded JCVG project (Jovens Contra a Violencia de Genero) that involves several public institutions in Italy, Spain, Romania, Brazil, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
The be* working principle is simple. Users listen to characters and share experiences and stories through five steps. Each step is made up of a question to answer.
Each answer then opens a video dedicated to the experience of the protagonist. At the conclusion of the game the user can share a picture of themselves on Facebook together with the claim, "be* who you are".
be* is a mobile-native platform but is playable on every device.
The three-year project JCVG aims at raising awareness and building a society respectful of gender differences, giving each one of us the possibility to express ourselves beyond stereotypes.
Three macro-themes have been explored in the course of the project: the spreading of models of positive manhood; violence against women; and the struggle against discrimination of LGBT people.
