BOSTON, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This September 2013 the restaurateurs behind The Beehive (www.beehiveboston.com), the award-winning restaurant located in Boston's South End, celebrate the grand opening of their new restaurant, Beat Hotel (www.beathotel.com) in Cambridge, MA.
Located at 13 Brattle Street in the heart of Harvard Square, Beat Hotel is a 360 capacity, hippie, bohemian American brasserie that boasts two bars, a performance stage, the work of local artists and live world-class performances nightly. The full-service upscale-casual restaurant specializes in eclectic fare with global influences featuring fresh, seasonal and wholesome dishes with appeal to carnivores and vegetarians alike from Beat Hotel's Executive Chef, Rebecca Newell, formerly of The Beehive. From appetizers such as the Ethiopian Salad with arugula, cottage cheese, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and teff cake ($11), chipotle-spiced baby back ribs ($14) and crispy tuna springrolls ($11) to fresh seafood and larger entrees such as the Earth Bowl, "a 'super natural'" selection of vegetables, whole grain pilaf ($20), the apple & bacon stuffed heritage pork loin ($24) and swordfish taco with blackbeans & Spanish rice, there is something from everyone.
In addition to its accessible menu, Beat Hotel's beverage list celebrates American spirits and American artisanal wines crafted by small batch winemakers with heart and soul. The state-of-the-art tap wine system features 24 true wines by the glass, mostly either certified biodynamic, certified organic or sustainable culture wines, all available in 2.5 oz, 5oz, or 12oz pours, in addition to a large and carefully curated wine list available by the bottle. Beat's expert bar staff also serves craft-cocktails and 6 beers on tap.
The name of the brasserie itself is inspired by a small, run-down hotel in the Latin Quarter of Paris that closed in 1963, notable chiefly as a residence for members of the Beat poetry movement of the mid-20th century. The hotel gained fame through the extended 'family' of beat writers and artists who stayed there from the late 1950s to the early 1960s in a ferment of creativity. This same ideology and creativity is carried over in the newest Beat Hotel's eclectic and artistic atmosphere. Truly a feast for all senses, Beat Hotel supports all forms or art and partnered with local artists, craftsman, and artisans to help design and make Beat Hotel a truly unique space. From the murals and columns painted by local artists, to the stage drapery and curtains crafted by a local artist, and the woodwork, such as the tables, service stations and the bar, all hand- crafted by local craftsmen, the design is a celebration of local talent.
To heighten the senses further, Beat Hotel has daily live music featuring cutting edge musicians in jazz, blues and world music, bringing eclectic artistry to Cambridge, MA every day.
Beat Hotel is open seven days a week from 5:00PM to 2:00AM Thursdays-Saturdays and 1:00AM Sundays-Wednesdays. Breakfast, lunch and brunch hours are planned in the coming weeks.
